Wealth Engine update

Wealth Engine logo_fixed.pngWealth Engine access had been discontinued as of June 3rd. We apologize for the short notice. At this time, the Library does not have an alternative database for doing individual prospect research. However, Forefront (formerly Donors Forum) offers on-site access to both NOZA and Research Point in their library. For more information about what NOZA is, please see Forefront's tutorial at http://guides.myforefront.org/databasetutorials/NOZAandRP

New Educational Portal

Foundation Center introduces Foundation Landscapes: Education, a new online portal that serves as a hub of information about education philanthropy.

According to their latest press release, "this website draws dynamically from a variety of Foundation Center information resources to provide a central, comprehensive source for the most current education-related reports, news, case studies, funding data, and other digital content." Find research reports by topic, educational level or region.

Foundation Landscapes: Education can be accessed at education.foundationcenter.org; it is made possible through generous support from the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations.

Foundation Maps

NEW! Foundation Mapsfm_3.png

We are pleased to now offer a new online tool in our core collection. Foundation Maps is Foundation Center’s new interactive mapping tool that brings philanthropy data to life so you can see who is funding what and where. Some of the most exciting features include:

• Map View displays with colored bubbles for foundations and recipients.
• Charts show funding trends and allow comparisons of funding by subject areas over time.
• Funding pathways visually reveals networked relationships between funders and recipients. Start with a recipient or foundation and view multiple layers of funding.
• U.S. Demographic overlays add a rich dimension to the maps, demonstrating the need for funding in a region or subject area.

Next time you are in the Library, search your nonprofit and find out its “family tree” of funding.

FDO Makeover

fdo.gifFoundation Directory Online Professional has undergone a slight makeover. The new features do not affect the grantmaker profiles, just the initial search screens.

Here is a link to a handout provided by Foundation Center on how to use FDO.

I'm excited by the new options. Let me know if you have any questions.

Status of Philanthropy Collection

College of DuPage Library intends to make no changes at this time. Donors Forum has formally announced that they are ceasing their partnership with the Philanthropy Centers, but since we have been doing training and supporting the collection on our own for years, this change won't impact us.

We are keeping our subscriptions to Wealth Engine and Foundation Directory Online Professional. Our intention is to also continue adding to the book collection in the areas of board development, prospect research, grant writing, etc. FREE orientations to the collection are also planned for the upcoming year. More info about collection is at http://www.codlrc.org/philanthropy

If you have any questions about what is in the Philanthropy Collection or how you can avail yourself of its resources, contact Christine Kickels at at (630) 942-2313.
